All-American Brownies

Ingredients
| 1/3 cup | butter |
| 1 cup | sugar (preferably brown sugar) |
| 2 | eggs |
| 1/2 teaspoon | vanilla extract |
| 3/4 cup | sifted flour |
| 1/2 teaspoon | baking powder |
| 2 tablespoons | unsweetened cocoa powder |
| 1/2 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 cup | broken walnuts |
Preparation
Cream butter in a bowl until soft and beat in sugar gradually until blended. Then add eggs one at a time and vanilla extract. Combine sifted flour, baking powder, cocoa powder and salt, and stir into the batter. Mix well and then stir in walnuts. Spread the batter into a greased 8 or 9 inch square pan and bake it at 180 °C for 25 to 30 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
