All-American Brownies

A delicious chocolatey and juicy classic.
All-American Brownies


1/3 cupbutter
1 cupsugar (preferably brown sugar)
1/2 teaspoonvanilla extract
3/4 cupsifted flour
1/2 teaspoonbaking powder
2 tablespoonsunsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoonsalt
1 cupbroken walnuts


Cream butter in a bowl until soft and beat in sugar gradually until blended. Then add eggs one at a time and vanilla extract. Combine sifted flour, baking powder, cocoa powder and salt, and stir into the batter. Mix well and then stir in walnuts. Spread the batter into a greased 8 or 9 inch square pan and bake it at 180 °C for 25 to 30 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
